Nottingham High School Losses of the Second World War
The information we have used here is mainly drawn from the documents held in the school Archive although details of where the individual men are commemorated is taken from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Website. We have also received permission to use the research on the men in the RAF from the excellent Air Crew Remembered website and must offer our grateful thanks specifically to Roy Wilcox for all his work. In addition to those named on the war memorial are nine men, identified recently by the research of John Knifton.
Much more information will become available on the other losses as the National Archives makes it available over the coming years. If you are a family member or friend who would like to add something, photograph or memory, to this resource on the service of a former pupil who lost their life serving in the war on either side, we would very much like to hear from you.
In the absence of identifiable photographs, we have used the relevant regimental badge.
