Major William Fraser Bland.5th Field Regiment RHA. South Notts Hussars. (ON 22-23) Survived Dunkirk but killed during the Japanese invasion of Malaya on 12 February 1942 age 34. Commemorated: Singapore Memorial. Solicitor and Member of the Law Society. Son of William Parlby Bland, and of Florence Mary Bland, of Nottinghamshire

From The Nottinghamian April 1946:

A son of councillor W. Parlby Bland, who is on the Governing Body of the School, Bland was only at the school a short time, leaving to complete his education at Seacroft and Shrewsbury School. Subsequently he became articled to Messrs Fraser and Fraser, solicitors, Nottingham. Joining the South Notts Hussars as a gunner, he soon gained his commission, and took part in the evacuation from Dunkirk, later volunteering for service in the Far East.
