Sgt-Obs IK Doncaster. 166 Sqn. RAFVR (ON 33-40) Killed 22 October 1943 age 20.

I.K.Doncaster attended Nottingham High School from the age of 9 being admitted in Sept 1933 to the Prep School and leaving the Senior School in June 1940. Doncaster left after Form Five B where he was 8th in class out of 27 students. Our records only show that he had won the Prep School Drawing Prize in 1935 and had reached the rank of Lance- Corporal in the School OTC taking his Cert A in 1939. On leaving, his tutor reported that academically he did his best and would probably have got his School Certificate the following year if he had not left to do War Work. His conduct was V. Good. His occupation on leaving was war work on a farm.

His father, R. Doncaster was an Engineer with the family firm: Sandiacre Screw Factory.and the family lived in Sandiacre, Nottingham. Although the School Magazine kept a record of Old Boys who joined up, and a Roll of Honour throughout the war years, Doncaster does not show up until he was added on the Roll of Honour in 1943, noted as being shot down over Germany. He had been shot down just short of the target city of Kassel, by a German night fighter. Six of the seven crew were killed.
He was buried at Hanover War Cemetery.
