Description

Second Lieut. George Colin Brown. 2nd Bn. Lincolnshire Regiment (ON 32-38). Killed in Action in NW Europe 8 March 1944 age 24. Buried Ranville War Cemetery. He was the son of W. A. Brown, a Schoolmaster, and his wife Charlotte, of Chilwell. Nottinghamshire. At school he was remembered as a member of the 1st XI. in 1936 and 37. "Batting was not a strong point, but his fast in-swinging 'Yorker' on the leg stump was devastating on the day". Upon leaving school he proceeded to University College Nottingham.
Note: The 1937 First Team lost four former members during WW2. Brown, Millington, Mason and Wilkinson.
